Sam please don't do what I did and spend money on a pump I thought the same as you and installed new pump i bet you it's not it
try another thermostat your problem is exactly what I had and I could not believe it was the thermostat but after buying a 3rd warm weather from Atlantic British it finally worked

Any chance you've changed the temp sensor? I had some annoying coolant temp problems with my truck and it turned out to be a bad (new) temp sensor. Truck would overheat in the parking lot without driving and after replacing everything in the cooling system and doing the inline t-stat mod, this $23 sensor from AB solved my problems.
Any excessive pressure in the cooling system = HG’s. You can normally smell a combustion/exhaust smell in the reservoir, but rent the tool, buy the fluid and be done with being sherlock holmes/dr watson stuff.

That's ok, I do it too and have to go back and reread.

The cooling system on these things...not everyone gets it. Things have to operate awhile until they fall into that groove. When I finished with my head job last month I let the truck idle well into 45 minutes...bled bled and rebled. Originally I noticed upward temps etc. But I knew once everything cycled a few times it would be ok. The lower hose being warm....is understandable at start up and well into 5-10 minutes. The radiators job is to cool the coolant...it wouldn't be much help if the coolant stays super hot into the motor. That's why we need to determine how long someone let's their truck run for, if the stat had time to run its course etc.
Just because you dont have any air at the bleeder DOES NOT MEAN, there is no air. I just bled more air out last week and noticed the temp drop. It's amazing how a little coolant can lower the temps.
I dont think the OP's issue is with the radiator, the stat, or the waterpump.
