Default 03 oil pump vin?

Hey guys,
Looking at an 03 Discovery HSE with 66k. It would seem as if the vin falls within the faulty oil pump range...SALTP16443A802597 correct? Would it be safe to assume this failure will happen if it hasn't already? If it hasn't happened yet, what sort of procedure would I be looking at to get it fixed so it doesn't fail. I'm really looking forward to being a proud rover owner again. I had a 98 DI previously and have regretted selling it everyday since.

But not all within VIN range fail. Are you a gambling man?

You can do a search on this forum for that vin range or just call the closest dealer.
If you catch a possible, right away, you can usually replace the front cover and start the clock all over, but you have to shut it down the first time that oil light shows it's ugly head not when you get home.

Greg, def consider an oil pressure gauge if you get that truck, while you are at it throw in a water temp guage.

I have a 2003 in the Death VIN range. now at 92,000 miles. I have a digital oil pressure gauge installed. Basically while driving look left, center, rear view mirror. As my oil guage in on the left A-Pillar. My oil pressure is really stong now. 45psi-50psi cold start up. 15psi at hot idle. 40psi at 2500rpm. Here is my setup on page 2 of the oil pressure gauge write up. Not a hard install, but I took a few extra steps with my install.
