03 Steering problems!!!
Posted this under Dsico I - OOOps!
2003 LR Disco SE7 - replaced steering pump. 2 different gearboxes installed. Repl 1st steering pump and gearbox as box was pouring PSF and ruined pump. New Pump and reman gearbox. Now, steering loose in straight position and intermittently while making right turns, the steering wheel will "stick" and "pop" into turning when you force the wheel past the sticking point. Was told gear box bad, but be missing a tooth in the gear itself, so replaced the box today with another. Doing the same thing now, only a little further into the right hand rotation than before. HELP!!!

Mine did that when I had a bad engine mount. It broke and was leaning against the steering shaft. You might check for anything interfering along the way from the steering wheel to the tires.
Disconnected everything from the box and hand pushed the steering lever and it still hung up, couldn't be pushed thru rotation. Can't be the rods . . . hard to believe I got 2 bad boxes in a row. I replaced the original one because it was pouring PSF and ruined the pump. Second box was off of a Disco with 50K miles and this new one was supposedly reman from 03 Disco with 70K miles. Crazy and kinda hard to believe that both boxes would be doing the same type thing. This one is def tighter, but still has that catch come back from right hand turn rotation. ???? The catch is tighter when accelerating out of a turn and only slight when applying brake or slowing out of turn.
