Default 04 Disco Fresh rebuild, all to specs+ -no start

Ok, today was the big day. The break in of the motor.
We made all the proper preparations and when we went to start it, we have crank, sputter, gallop, and crank. If the throttle is held open, I get a random backfire, but not when the throttle is closed.
Spraying fuel (or in this case, a flammable fluid) into the intake changes nothing.

We are checking spark at each plug.
Fuel indicator is 1/2 tank.

Is there a period of relearn? The battery was disconnected for a couple months.

Weak spark on #5 cylinder and none on adjacent.
Looks like the intake's coming back off.... sigh.
Stinking 2ndary Air and coil pack placement.
Wires are stock but look like new but then again, could be the coil pack(s).

WOW.
Ok, so it turns out the 5-8 coil pack's harness plug was switched with the idle air control (IAC) valve harness plug!
IAC harness plug = grey
Coil pack harness plug = black
They both fit in each other's place (barely) but are obviously not interchangeable function-wise!

This would explain a few weird findings prior to the no start issue:
-IAC plug barely reached the IAC
-Coil packs plug grey and didn't match the other coil pack's black plug
When testing for spark, we had weak constant spark on #5 when key was cycled (no crank).
-Scan tool detected P1513 IAC valve OPEN mil code.
Going back together later, other duties to attend to....
Will post back with results.

Yep - that'd do it.
Curious why you had all of that off but didn't change your wires from stock to new 8mm? Seems like a no-brainer while you're in there...

$ and um, $. Believe me, I wanted to as you're right, easiest to do when off.
But I've got enough already wrapped up in it, function 1st, later definitely.
