They can look like that and still stick. With the TB off the intake, squeeze the 3 TB screws together (you will see what I mean looking from the back). Remove the TB plate and use a scotchbrite pad along the trailing edge. Then look inside the TB housing you will usually see a line where the TB plate sits. Use the scotchbrite pad and smooth out the inside of the TB housing you don't want to feel any line or imperfections. With the TB plate clean re-install it, tighten the 3 screws back and carefully spread them open again. I guarantee your TB will be silky smooth after that without "sticking".

Okay, that’s a great tip Best4x4! Any issue with using the same gasket again? I just put a new one in but does it get pinched/flattened when you seat the bolts and require a new one each time you remove the TB?

I've reused those gaskets with no issues as long as the TB comes off cleanly.
