Thanks JohnZo. I cleaned it up and there was in fact a hex head in the center shaft to adjust. It wound up being a T30 6 point star. After centering the steering and wheels, I adjusted it until just snug and locked it up. I prayed to the Discovery gods that it’s really this easy and pleasssse work. Took her for a test drive and the slop is now from 10:30 - 12:00, a little bit better. I don’t want to over tighten or over adjust but I’ll give it another whirl tomorrow. 😊

Let’s be very clear here, SNUG is not the word you should be using. The adjustment requires taking up slack until you just barely make contact. You can make it snug as you search for the correct adjustment as long as you back off then come back at it to “just contact”. Running it snug is bad. Making it snug while playing with it is fine. Since you still report slack in the wheel you are probably not actually snug. The three possibilities are “truly loose”, “just barely touching” (correct), and “too tight”.

Maybe jack up the front and rock the steering wheel (small quick movements) near center during adjusting. Then go lock to lock for final check.
