15 Months of Fun With A D2
Cool! I'm glad to hear that. I always like to feel connected to my past.

Interesting experiences - as you say the Landrover D2 "does exactly what it says on the tin" and takes some beating in it's class. I've posted the LR heritage history as it makes interesting reading. Fortunately, for my sins I've owned many Landrovers from Series 2a to Range Rover's and later Discos all of which have been great fun, leaked oil and needed attention but they never disappoint.
Back some years ago the Rover SD1 was used quite a lot in the UK for saloon car road racing using a tuned 3.5 litre V8. It was reasonably successful and quite a 'beast'. The engine, I believe, was derived from the all aluminium Buick 5.25 litre sleeved down by Rover to 3.5 and naturally aspirated using SU carbs. These engines found their way into single seater race cars, Caterham lookalike cars, early Range Rovers and many other uses. Unfortunately the road going Rover SD1 was always classed as a failure due to rust and mechanical problems but even the police used them (now that's the kiss of death for any car) but now they are a 'collectors' car after all these years and sometimes appear on the street in 'mint' condition.
