Truck parked for over 3 months...
Hi everyone, im a newbie here and here's my first post: My 2002 Range Rover 4.6 has been in a garage for over 3 months, i will be getting it out shortly. What i want to know is, are there any components or possible malfunctions that i should look out for? Should i change all the fluid by flushing and replacing? Battery? Anything? Please reply even if not sure as i would like to hear all possibilities. Thanks in advance. P.S The truck was in perfect running condition before i parked it and i did not make any special preparations either as in hooking up a rechargeable battery and that sort.
Actually three months is enough time for anything to happen. I suggest you take it in to a shop and have them check it for you. I had mine seating at for 2 months, when I started it blue smoke was coming from tailpipe, I ended getting a tune up, oil change, air filter change etc... also make sure you have muffler checked.
if it would be me i would top the tank off with 93 and put an injector cleaner in the tank, crank her up let her get warm....change oil, oil filter..and check fluid levels like teamyonex said ....since you have fuel injection its a closed system unlike a carb set up therefore you should not have had any fuel evaporate causing left behind residue. im sure it also has hydrulic lifters so if you hear some knocking and it goes away after a couple of minutes i wouldn't worry about it. my 2 cents.
Yeah i still have warranty and that's the first place i am taking it to. As for the fuel suggestion of putting fuel injector in there, which one? how do i get? I've always used 93oct. on her too.
check the coolant, oil, all the fluids then just fire it up let it warm up for a good bit. 3 months of sitting is not a long time, it will be fine, also go fill it up with a full tank, the gas shouldent be bad but it is not in its best state either.
