Hi,

I have a 1996 Disco 300 TDI that has no remote central locking working. I have the 2 button key fobs that came with the car but they have never worked the central locking only works using the key on the drivers door. Also when you start the car the red warning light on the dash for the immobilser flashes constantly, would this be linked to the key fobs not working? I have tried putting new batteries into the key fobs but without any success.

Any ideas?

 

Do a search on the forum for the RAVE manual, it is THE work shop manual for our trucks and in it you will find instructions on how to re-program the remote.

I do not know if the alarm not working correctly will affect your lack of power or not.
On a V8 when the alarm goes off it disconnects the fuel pump, I think you have a mechanical fuel pump on your truck but I do not know for a fact.

Just thinking out loud here...if you have a electric fuel pump and it is not working but your injector pump is mechanical and it is strong enough to pull a small amount of fuel out of the fuel tank maybe it will run at a reduced power output because it is not getting enough fuel?

Program the remote and see what happens.
