Default 1999-2003 Land Rover Discovery II 4.0 TURNER Engine with Tophat Liners - $2200

This is the title of a craiglist ad I found yesterday. We know the 4.0 was not used in the '03 Discos, but beyond that this may be a great deal for someone in Eastern North Carolina needing an engine.

The seller's ad says the engine had only 600 miles on it when the truck was totaled.

The Greenville referred to is Greenville, NC, not Greenville, SC.

Look like a good deal... Wounder how he could prove what he's saying... Be too easy to write that up and take advantage of someone.

Yeah it would be, but I wouldn't expect the seller to put all the due diligence performed into the craigslist ad. And the seller should expect any careful, informed buyer would ask for documentation. After all, in the market he's targeting he would reasonably expect someone to challenge his assertions.

We all know the Rover V8 tends to blow head gaskets, and this has a lot to do with the coolant supplied from the factory rather than any design flaw.

They won't just do the engine; they want the whole car or they won't do it.
Seller not the brightest LR star he portrays to be and putting out some BS.

I bet turner keeps a log of all the block numbers they work on. I bet you can call them and cross reference their records with the number on this guy's block.

Look, y'all, y'all can be haters if you like. That's up to you.

I saw this advertised and thought someone on the forum might benefit from it. I made no representations about the integrity of the seller.

Those of you who are cynics and haters will disqualify yourselves and leave more room for those who are open-minded to what may be a great opportunity. Please get out of the way of others. Caviat emptor.

No hate here, my comment was more for someone to chime in to possibly help us figure out a good way to verify what someone might be buying. I think your post is of value and defenetly a good find if it turns out to be legit.
