Default 2000 Disco heated windscreen connector melted

Hey guys, my disco heated windscreen stopped working on the driver side. Not sure when, sorry. It did work at one time. I checked the 40A fuses, ok. I checked the connectors under the cabin filter, passenger was fine. Driver side connector was melted around the contacts, once I managed to get the halves apart. Not sure how this got so hot and did not blow a fuse... Isn't that the idea? Anyone have any thoughts on this? There are no cracks or chips in the windscreen. I will check the resistance and voltage tonight, to make sure everything (except fired connector) is as it should be. I guess I could make a jumper to go from the passenger side, just to make sure the driver side is not defective. Thanks for your help!!!
