Default 2000 Disco II Lift Kit Question

I have a 2000 Disco II with 2' spacers (for my larger tires) and stock springs and shocks. Its time to buy new springs and shocks as mine are gone....most likely will purchase OME Heavy Duty (since I'm also buying a bumper and winch). Question is, I have 2 inch lift with the spacers right now. Should I buy the OME (or other suggested brand) that give a 2 inch lift or should I buy the OME stock size Heavy Duty springs and shocks and keep the spacers in place?

I feel as though I haven't wasted money on the spacers if I continue to use them with new springs and shocks. I drive alot in Vermont mud, trails, etc. No rock crawling.

Any advice greatly appreciated

if you're going to be buying new springs anyways and you want to stay at 2" of lift I'd just buy some 2" lift springs and do away with the spacers. you could try and sell them to recoup part of their purchase price.

There is no such thing as a stock height HD spring. I looked, I asked and that is the answer I got. The OME HD springs are a good setup and you'll be happy with them. Since your stock springs have settled your spacers have you sitting about 1" over the stock height when the springs were new. (Stock height minus 1" settling plus 2" spacer equals 1" over stock height. Rover mathematics 101.) The OME HD springs usually end up at about 1-3/4" of lift which will put you taller than you are now plus they'll carry the weight of a winch and bumper.

If you go OME, which I did 7 plus years ago, use the 751 front springs from a D1 and 762 rear springs.
If you feel you need more then add from there, just remember the taller you are, the mor unstable you will be because as you lift the truck you throw off the geometry of the axles, front and rear and shift them to the drivers side.

Thanks for the feedback. Also, any preference on the best bumper/winch combination?

I'll tell you why! =)

It doesn't handle nice off road. On road I can't tell a difference in handling except its a bit stiffer. the rear transverse link or "watts linkage" as RTE puts it is about 1/2inch to 1inch from hitting. it hits if i go too fast on speed bumps.

My rear shocks are extended 2 inches when on level ground. There is this small hole on my way home where I try to avoid but if my rear tire gets in it the axle just drops almost like the shock isnt even there...

I love the ground clearance it gives me but it's not for stock suspension. I have learned the way my rig handles off-road and have been very confident and successful attacking obstacles even before adding CDL... with these spacers I don't feel safe on a gravel road...

Here's another way to put it... you know how some people cut their springs to drop their cars and then it handles like crap and bounces all over the place....Well this is kinda the same thing but opposite. That's why it's not even listed as one of my mods... hehe

(Off topic..I just order bush cables form Kurt thanks to you)
