2000 Discovery II - Engine shuts off unexpectantly
I'm having a problem with the engine, it will stop running randomly, sometimes it will start back immediately, sometimes it takes 15 min. or longer. I've replaced the camshaft sensor twice, that seems to help for about 6 - 9 mo. then it starts again. All lights on the dash will come on for no reason, then I can shut the car off and when it starts again.... they are all off. Any suggestions or has anyone else had similar problems? It has 250K miles on it.
Any local shop can test it. I had the same thing happen to me on my old D2, it's a pain to get to the fuel pump, but once you get to it, it's pretty simple to put the new pump in. If you find out that's what the issue is I can look up which airtex model fuel pump I replaced it with

I was wondering the same. Cam sensor is on the front cover. Crank sensor is on the bottom driver side of the engine, just above the oil pan at the back. Crank sensor is the likely culprit.
