I have a 2000 Discovery II. The hood dealer alum tag say December 2000. I do not have a CDL shifter. I would like to ....Is it better to buy a used unit?, or is the homemade DIY style(s) adequate? Not that I would use it a lot, but it would be a + to have... I have more "have to" fixes for the disco. The CDL is not at the top of the list right now.

 

First thing is to check whether or not you have the transfer case that can be locked. Not sure if all the 2000 model year trucks had them. This link here www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock tells you what you need to know about finding out.

Reasonbly certain all 2000's are good. The supply ran out either late 2001 or mid 2002, I can't recall which., off the top of my head. But 2000 model is good to go.

 

2000 will have the nipple. I would go with a factory linkage as I like the look of it better.

 

There is a good deal on an 04 CDL in the LR classifieds unless it's sold.
