Default 2001 DII issues

I have a 2001 Disco II that I’ve just replaced head gaskets on. 4.0 gas engine. Truck shows no codes, my scanner shows all readiness tests complete, but the check engine light stays on while ignition is on, engine not running. But isn’t on while engine is running. Any ideas? I need to get emissions test done to get my tag in Georgia.

I believe its normal. Ignition on checks all system then disappears when engine runs after start.

I'm pretty sure every car I have ever owned does this.

An engine can't be checked for emissions unless it's running. The power-on test just checks various sensors for responses.

FYI... What helped me pass the Georgia emissions test after a fail for my 2001 D2:
get the fuel tank down to half,
pour in some BG-44K,
run the snot out of it for a half an hour,
and then get the emissions test.

It's working 100% correctly then.
