2001 Discovery SD won’t move
I just bought another Discovery and had it dropped off. I have drained and filled all fluid and filters greased driveshafts everything seems to be in order. Starts and idles great only issue is no matter what gear I put it in it won’t move, forward or reverse. I removed front drive shaft and nothing. The rear drive shaft doesn’t seem to be trying to move when in gear. I have checked fuses but I know everything can have a negative impact on the transmission. Thank you for any help.
I’m not sure what cotter pin you’re referring to, I have removed the original XYZ and replaced with one I know works. The shift cable goes through an odd. Bolt with a flat head and a hole through it that tightens Down. I have it tight and have tried all positions of the gear selector and nothing. It doesn’t feel like there is a positive catch to any gear. It sat for a couple years before I got it, but everything else works I wouldn’t think the computer would be the issue?
When they towed it I put the T/C in neutral and have tried it in H/N/L won’t move not even an inch. Could the emergency brake be stuck on that tight? The handle moves like it should.
I barely remember the owner manual saying that in neutral is not the way to tow it...¿?
Edited... corrected... the main gearbox is the one to be in 'park'. The transfer in neutral.

Maybe I’m wrong about what I did, but when the tow truck got the back tires off the ground I did something to allow the fronts to roll. It a diff was exploded I would hear something same with the T/C. Seems electrical or solenoid?
No sir I don’t know much about it, the PO said something might be wrong with the rear end? I bought it mainly for the trim parts and turns out the gram is perfect no rust and being an SD I’m not going to kill it. How could I make sure the front clutch is ok? When I say it won’t move I mean I’m pretty big and I can make the tires roll an inch.
