Thank you for the replies. I have all 4 wheels off the ground and the front drive shaft out, when I the rear drive shaft geonly the drivers side turns. I didn’t think about spinning one of the felt by hand but I will in the morning, and when I do both should correct? Is there a certain solenoid or something electrical that would keep the transmission from finding the gear I select? I have a rebuilt trans and transfer case out of an 04 that I can install but I have a feeling the issue is not mechanical. Broken differentials or spider gears would have make some noise I imagine and I hear nothing like it’s not going into gear at all. I drained the trans fluid and replaced the filter which had lots of metal shavings in it so obviously rhat’s bad but bad enough to keep it from catching any gear?

Dumb question, but of course you refilled the transmission with the engine running and you went through all the gears while topping it off... correct?

My next best guess would be, since it moved before you changed filter and fluid...maybe you didn't get filter up into valve body of trans correctly or o-ring got messed up or you are super duper low on fluid. The first two happen often, and l'm not sure the last one would affect the trans to the point of absolutely no movement...even not filled correctly using fill procedure...it should still give you enough fluid to get some type of movement. Especially with wheels off the ground. Like they say..."if you don't know where to start, go back to the beginning"... and the beginning of this problem started with your fluid change, correct?

Another question, why do you have the front shaft off?

I have never seen the truck move under it’s own power. I got a tip where it was has it towed to my place where I drained and filled both diffs, T/C. Engine and trans oil. Fresh 93 octane. New plugs and wires and it lights off great and isles good E brake works well. I have gotten under the vehicle and turned the 10mm L/D both ways I have had the T/C In every position and the trans gear lever light shows the associated gear but never any feeling of it catching a gear. I removed the front drive shaft and I was going to remove the rear to see if anything spins. And I ran out of damn ideas and just started taking **** apart that could cause binding or anything. I fell asleep under this truck the last two nights staring and thinking little cussing.

Well, if you've never seen it move under its own power...my next best guess would be...the trans is the issue. Now, in order for it to be something electric...normally you'll get a code. Most likely...the front pump took a dump.

Solenoids almost never go out on the ZF HP22, nor front pumps. If everything else checks out is probably the front clutch which is a common failure point. The one I rebuilt a few months back had no material left on the clutches.

Torque convertor could have taken a dump also. Regardless, it looks like you're going in deep.

I hoped that if I didn’t look for 24 hours someone would tell me there is a connection I forget to reattach. I trust everyone’s knowledge here more than mine for sure. Im just having a hard time making myself pull the trans because when I shift the gears I don’t hear or feel anything. I refilled the trans correctly but I did find a lot of junk in the old filter. But I wouldn’t think enough to make it not catch one single gear or turn one wheel just a little.

It's not exactly a funny job removing the trans. Just get under there and start hitting trans mount bolts and every other bolt/nut you see with penetrating oil. Crossmembers can be the most difficult part of the job and y-pipe (normally, exhaust manifold studs break, even if you heat them).

What about the TCM. It sat for at least 2 years not battery in it.
