have you pulled your new plug out of cyl 5 for an inspection? If it is fouled with fuel and black goo you've found your issue, If not then your block is probably not the issue.

Open the hood now that its dark and see if you are arcing anywhere, that's free.
Swap #5 plug with another cylinder and see if the problem follows. If yes, bad plug.
If no, swap #5 wire with another cylinder, if problem follows, bad wire.
Not likely a coil or sensor.
Post a pic of the plug.
Hope you are using NGK's.

Not every problem with a D2 is a head gasket or cracked block. Does it happen, obviously yes if you read enough of these posts, but they just don't fail like that every time you run to the store.

You said you changed the plugs....did you check the plug gap? Every day at the shop I get new plugs in and lately I'm getting about 90% plugs that are gaped incorrectly. I always check gap on every plug I put in. Try that first. If all is well, I would check fuel rail pressure. It could be that the prob in the first place was a pump failure or filter issue.. We had a jeep in recently that would start fine and then run fine but when hot wouldn't start. Turned out that the seals were gone in the pump and the fuel was boiling in the rail due to low pressure. It gets over looked. Worth a test. A pressure change would cause a poor spray pattern. Not a definite but worth eliminating, and yes incorrect pressure would lead to an excess of gas as the injector would drip instead of spray. If problem is only in one cylinder, then its time to look at that injector. Pull it out and test.
