2002Disco Rear Blinker/Hazards not working
Hi,
I just purchased a 2002 Disco 2 on auction, and it’s a doozy of a project. Starting point are the non functioning rear blinkers and hazards. I have brake lights at least.
I believe the source of the problem stems from the jimmy rigged trailer hitch wiring. All wires were hanging from the hitch, none but one were connected to anything. The one connected wire runs the full length of the truck, rear to the engine compartment.
I’ve worked on my 91 merc for 6 years, and am very confused here. Does anyone have a wiring diagram, or know power control center for the rear lights? Has anyone experienced something like this that can suggest a solution?

Do both of your turn signals work? The hazards use the same relays R1 & R2 that are under the steering wheel for the turn signals.

Yes the relays control the front and rear signals.
A quick check is to swap the relays and/or check your rear bulbs to see it the are either a) blown (then replace them) or b) if they are LED bulbs, flip the bulb around to reverse the polarity.

I swapped out the relays and checked the bulbs. Bulbs work, and the rely swap made no difference. Does anyone know the location of the main controller?
Discovering Dora questions on why front left and right blinkers and hazards work, and euro blinkers work right, left, and hazard, left and right blinkers and hazards do not work at the rear.
PO - ran trailer hitch wires on the outside of the truck, dangling from the trailer hitch (even though it cane with a factory harness🙄
Setup included 1 long black wire from the engine compartment to the trailer hitch. None of these wires were connected to anything when I received the truck
Action 1 - replace left and right blinker relays
Response - not fixed
Action 2 - replace the fuse box under steering column
Response - not fixed
Action 3 - Multimeter check- targeted black and red wire in gray harness/connector located on back of fuse box located under steering column
Test 1 - no power to the black and red wire coming from the connector/harness. All other wires are good.
Test 2 - plugged in multimeter from rear tail lights directly to black and red wire in gray harness/connector
Response - all taillights lit up correctly
Test 3 - test for a break in the wire from box to taillight
Response - multimeter read .3 wire is good
Questions
Does the switch at the steering wheel also control hazards?
Is there another relay that needs to be changed?
Suggestions on diagnosis, next steps?
