Default 2003 disco broken front drive shaft

So my u joints broke by my transfer case. I am installing a new DS , but when I started to hear a grinding noise when I slightly press the accelerator or put it in park. Any one know what this is going to be?

You may wish to drain the fluid from the transfer case and look for metal shavings. May have done more damage than just the DS.

Thanks. That will be the first thing I do. I got in and put it in drive and the front drive shaft spins. I believe the grinding came from trying to put it in park while it was still spinning. All the same I’m draining TC and tranny. Thank you

Good chance you may end up with some vibration as well. Here's an excellent thread on how to replace the T/C output shaft bearing, which stands a good chance of getting knocked about in the event. I'd say do it just because, and you may want to, but it's such a simple job if you follow Brandon's instructions that going back in to do it later means all you'll sacrifice is the time spent removing the front driveshaft once again. The actual bearing replacement takes less time than removing the driveshaft.
