Default 2003 Disco II transmission

Please can someone tell me from what years and perhaps other LR models that I can use or interchangeable with a 2003 Disco II and if there will programing issues once I swap it (I have a Autel 619). What trouble can I foresee. My slush box is acting but it is so freaking cold out I have not gone to check and I am contemplating worse case scenario and probably getting ahead of myself, once I check I will post. Just got back to town and my girl been driving the Disco and stated that is "is jumping out of gear while driving"???. Thanks for all the help

03' and 04' are compatible. I know people who have used an earlier model without issue, but the 03/04 is a little beefier to handle the 4.6 motor, so that is the correct part. Always change out the TC to match the trans you put in.

Where are you located? If near CA I have one, if on the other coast I am sure Paul Grant can help you.

You could always do the much desired (by some) Disco 1 5 speed swap. *drools*

If you have ever driven a 5 speed disco for any length of time, it might not be so desired...

Never have. I might have to try and find one to test it out first. Why is it so undesirable?

My first disco in 2011 was a 5 speed disco 1. I loved driving that thing. Much prefer it to my auto in my current disco 2. I really regret selling that disco 1.

If the rover was just a weekend toy, then I would say its OK. But if you do any daily driving or driving in traffic its a lot of work. The clutch is a little heavy and the throw between gears is pretty significant.

I love a manual transmissions, and have 2 alfa romeos with 5 speeds. The are light and zippy and driving them is a blast. Driving the 5 speed D1 I had was tiresome after a while.
