Default 2003 disco II window failure

hi all,
2003 discovery II drivers side front window stopped working the other day(all other windows work). i switched the drivers side switch to the passenger side window to check the switch. it worked, so the switch is fine. i took the drivers side door cover off and tested the motor with a hot lead and ground, works fine up and down. when i press the drivers side window switch i hear a click under the passenger side dash. from reading the post i narrowed it to the bcu. i put my hand on the bcu and pushed the drivers side switch and could feel the click in the bcu. i bought one on ebay and called my local dealer.
they said i could try it and get lucky??
they didn't know if they could reprogram it??
said it could possibly damage other electrical components??
any suggestion would be helpful
thanks

Have you tested the actual window motor, do you have power to it, can you hot wire it to work?
I wouldn't jump into a BCU too fast cause I doubt it is the problem and if it has to be replaced you also must replace the ECU from the same donor vehicle, so do some more checking.

yes mike I took off the door cover and put a hot lead and ground to the window motor, it went up. then reversed wires it went down. worked fine also switched, switches, its not the switch. clicking sound coming from the bcu when the window switch is pressed in.

Odometer won't like things being swapped either. I would wonder what dealer or indy shop would charge for re-program; vs cost of a device capable of it (possibly a Hawkeye, but an actual user should comment).

Let's keep this rolling. I have two discos with this problem. 95 D1 and 02D2. Would love to know the fix for this.

You can put a new BCU in, I have done it, albeit not for this issue.

Could it be a bad relay on the BCU? You May be able to find that, solder it out and replace, I mean, I probably couldn’t.

I did take the bcu out of my 1995 D1 and resoldered a dry socket which repaired the problem I was having with the rear windows being inoperative. I found that on youtube but I haven't seen anything on the driver window.

Sometimes the power wire to the window motor on the driver's side breaks inside the rubber conduit between the door jamb and the door. Especially on higher mileage Discos where the door has been opened/closed many thousands of times. Check that.

Here's a link to my window dilemma story, and the fix.
