2003 discovery loud ticking noise need help???
if you have a cyl 4 misfire, and noise from that side of the engine, plug it into 4 and see what you got. yes you should check them all, and they should be around 140-165 or so. if your pissing compression that bad, youll probably only have about 90 on cyl 4. also, to get a good reading, unplug your inertia switch (black tubey switch on the rh rear of the firewall) and then strat it up a few times. let it crank about 3-4 rounds ("pops"... youll hear what i mean) and see what you got

wow, dont think ive ever seen one that low still running... anyway, you wont know if you need the head resurfaced until its off and you run a straight-edge across it, if it hasnt gotten too hot, the heads probably fine, and just needs a new gasket
