Finally got my disco back from British 4x4 in Jacksonville. He wheeled it in on Saturday and had it completed in 2 days. Fantastic work by James, quick and reasonably priced. He opened the hood when he got it and said, “Oh you got pretty far on it.” Which made me feel better about all the work I’d done. Drove it home for the second time - this time on all 8 cylinders!

i have a couple of O2 sensor errors and the engine is running 212 at idle so I still have some work to do (see attached report).

So I’ll be working on those items this weekend, upgrading the tires to Cooper ATs and installing the front bumper. Will post on my progress over the next couple days so stay tuned.

Let it idle for a bit and it sprang a leak! Still running hot. Going to let it cool down by working on the bumper.

 

Have you done the inline thermostat mod?

 

inline thermostat mod? No I haven’t. Is there a thread on that? I have a new high temp thermostat, new water pump and new radiator. Interestingly the passenger side headers are about 100 F higher than driver side. Thoughts on that? Guy who installed the engine said I need to get the cats checked. Errors are P0141, P0140 and P0161.

I did get the bumper installed with help from my kids. Ready for the zombie apocalypse!!

Minor mods for the bumper

 

There are threads and links on the inline thermostat. Are u at 217 with the heater on full blast?

One side being hotter than the other seems odd. Can you see the readouts from your O2 sensors? I would guess they were malfunctioning before the cats.

 

I did not turn the heater on when running the rover. Attached is the latest diagnostic report. It is the downstream O2 sensors that are reporting errors.

 

Ran it again this morning on the way to get the tires replaced. Running at 217 again until I turned on the heat full blast and then it dropped to 210. Verified all the fans are running. I’ll dig in a bit more once I get it back. Going to crawl under there and check the downstream sensors and cats.

 

Mine was 217 with the heater full blast idling. New thermostat fixed it. Maybe your thermostat is not opening the entire way? Your water pump is brand new so that likely isn’t it, and it is not likely your fan either.

 

This seems to me like a thermostat not opening properly.

Also, looks like there are issues with your rear O2 sensors.
