I have a disco 2 and it will engage the cdl but not into low range or neutral. I know there’s a solenoid on there to lock it out that’s prone to failure . From my research the solenoid is different on the 03-04 vs previous models. Has anyone encountered this ? What is easiest approach for repair.

 

Is this new? It’s not uncommon on these for the linkage to be corroded and seized if it doesn’t get used often.

You can try the recommended method get up to about 2-3 mph, pop the Disco in to neutral and let it coast for 100 yds or so then while still moving see if you can get in to low range, it only takes a gentle shove.

 

It’s an 04 . i’ve tried various methods with no lock. Cdl works like a champ though lol

 

@skeetman2 Well 04 is a bit easier. The cable goes up the right side fro t of the transfer case, you can see it from underneath. Try a whack of oil used for bike or motorcycle cables, and little rental inspection camera helps too, let it sit for a day or so and try again, with luck it will free up.
