Hello all! I recently purchased a 2004 Discovery that has been turning off when stopping in traffic. It usually starts to stall out after the car gets up to temp. I go to stop at a light it will come to a stop then the Red oil light, red battery light, and CEL will all illuminate and the car will shut off, but the AC and radio will stay on. To restart it I have to shift to park, turn ignition to off and then re ignite the car, then I am able to continue driving to the next stop. Again it only does this after after Ive been driving long enough for the car to be up to running temps. I had the transfer case replaced with a new one but that has not solved the issue, could the transmission be bad?

 

Unlikely, try disconnecting the mass air flow sensor and see if it quits doing it.

 

I'll give that a shot. I was thinking maybe the torque converter was going bad, but I'll try this first. Will drive it for about as long as it usually takes to happen in the morning.

 

Also make sure the throttle plate and IACV are super clean.
