Default 2004 OEM Crossbars

I've searched the various threads and seen some success in getting the OEM crossbars that fit the 04 rails..

Does anyone have a pair for sale or a recommendation of how to find a pair?

If no OEM options are out there, any aftermarket suggestions? Looking to put a basket on the OEM rails without the commitment of something permanently installed.

Thanks

2004 cross bars (round profile) are a unicorn. One suggestion is to use the Thule 953 legs with crossbars to hold the basket. The 953 legs will provide sufficient height to still allow your sunroof to open.

I found some at a Pick and Pull. ‘04 round bar cross bars. Problem was, I found them about 5 mins AFTER the guy before me. We both knew what we were looking at. I was just a little bit late…

acg,

Thanks for the recommendation, I may go with the 953 - like that I can still open the sunroof with them.

My only issue would be that my drip rail on the passenger side is chipped up and those are as equally as hard to find as the crossbars.

Yeah I've been searching the local junk yards regularly for new inventory - so far no luck.

Hopefully if I find them, I'll be there 5 minutes before the next guy

There is a solution that I posted somewhere in the forum.... it is to use a u-channel strip purchased from Amazon to replace the drip rail .... it was originally someone else's idea on Facebook that I shared here on this forum.

However, I am on the road this week and do not have access to the specific info.

Took me about 4 years to find some at a salvage yard. Very few out there.

Guess I should've bought that set that was for sale 1 time about 2 hours from my house but I had to get a ferry to get them. They were oem 04 crossbars though

I've been trying to find some for years with no luck. I see the pre-04 crossbars for sale every once in a while but that's no help. There's a guy locally I see driving around every now and again that has a set. I need to chase him down next time and tell him I'll buy them if he ever parts with his Disco. They're as rare as hen's teeth. I'm sure he knows it too.

A forum member, Toofaroffroad, also has a thread going from a few years ago where he shared the use of a contractor type roof bar (for carrying ladders and such). It was a relatively inexpensive option.
