That should work. You can only get the unit lifted so high because of the brake lines (unclip the lines from the plastic brackets along the firewall for better clearance) and you'll be able to tell when you need to stop lifting. Worst case is the key is too tall to fit underneath. I think 2-inches or shorter should be good. 4mm should be the hex key size.

It's true that Option B can be done without the two-wire trailer wiring connector. I can only guess that perhaps Josh Salas elected to use the connector so that the shuttle valve switches can be more easily removed if they need to be replaced at a later time. It sort of replicates the plug and receptacle setup of the original.

It's also true that using the wire taps is easier than splicing with solder and heat shrink, but in my case I had solder and shrink wrap on hand.
