4.0 - 4.6 head swap
Bought a 2000 D2 4.0 and was hoping to bring it back to life. PO put a lot of money into it and might have been a little misleading about why it didnt run. I’m stuck with this one with no compression on one cylinder with new heads, timing chain plus a lot more. I was hoping to find a 4.6 short block and swap over all the new parts onto it. Is this possible?

That's correct. The bore size/piston size is also the same except the 4.0 piston is a slightly taller compression height. From what I've been told, though never confirmed, the 4.0 pistons in a 4.6 would make for a little less than half a point of increase in compression, but that's a moot point if you're swapping the whole rotating assembly.
