Default The 4H/4L stick moves

I did the CDL switch so my stick is mounted on top of the tranny. I just finished replacing all 4 motor/tranny/tcase mounts that were destroyed. Problem is that when I shift gears(D to R and R to D) the stick has some play to it, not much but it does move. Any thoughts? Is that normal? I would of never noticed if it was still a cable set up instead of the direct connection. Also there is a bit of vibration, should I be seeing that?

Thanks everyone.

I just completed the CDL as well. Which method did you use? The D1 or the Ashcroft?
I did the D1 and discovered the same as you. It also would not let me completely put the shifter into unlock mode. I had to remove the top cover plate that has the small square hole to allow enough room for the shifter to completely unlock.

Well I used the shifter from the D1 but I didnt have any problems like that. Are you sure you cut the plate big enough and lined up the little gear on the side correctly?

Anyhow, if it is normal than that is a sigh of relief

Yes, I have plenty of room, just my plate was restricting the full motion. Maybe i don't have it adjusted 100%. But when I had that plate on it took only mm to engage the cdl and I didn't like it. I think where I went wrong was that I had that plate off original when I installed it. So that would make the reason for the error.

you will get some vibration up thru the handle, because the D1 shifter is mounted ridgidly to the tranny. The D2 & ashcroft are cable operated and do not transfer vibration like the D1 shifter.
