Waterfowl looks really cool man, I like how you kept the factory look. I did as well, no thief will think we have a system since the alarm does not go off when the window is broken. I put JL components in my front and back doors and they have a 6.5 inch woofer in the door I have a 250 watt JL amp pushing the 10 inch JL sub and a 300 watt 4 channel JL amp pushing the components in the doors. I wanted to put a 7 inch double din head unit in the dash but due to the curve of the dash it would have cost about $1500.00 to reshape the dash so it looked right. I went with a single din and it works great. I was going to put 2 10's in but one was enough bass plus I wanted to keep a storage area. I will try and remember to post some pics. With the 10 firing from the side it sounds amazing. Its a really easy vehicle to rewire a stereo system on.

Thanks for the info, though. 04duxlr, did you use those same Kickers in your rear door?

He should not be punished for expressing his opinion. He seemed pretty cool to me.

That to me is abuse of power by the admin. It was his opinion and he was sharing it with the rest of us. That is what this forum is for I thought, a place to share information and experiences with each other.

That is of course what a forum is for, unless what is being said conflicts with an admin's interest. Absolutely abuse of power.

Guys

Awesome threads!

How did you run a wire for 12V steady power for your subwoofer amps? From what I understand you need a 8 or 10 gauge wire directly connected to the battery to operate a subwoofer amp.

I have an aftermarket receiver which has subwoofer outputs which I already prewired but when I looked at the engine firewall/bulkhead I couldn't see a quick or easy way to run a wire from the battery to the interior.

For the switched 12V which is also a requirement for the amplifier, I plan to tap from the driver or passenger side electric motor seats, unless you have better suggestion

Thanks in advance

Al

If I remember right my head unit had a wire (I think blue) that I ran back to the amp. Heres a cheap kit Scosche 680W 8-Gauge Wiring Kit - Walmart.com it is a blue wire off the harness I used.

This was helpful, I need to replace the back 6.5" woofers speakers but I don't know what will work better, 250W or 300W? Any suggestions ??

Default Im lazy!

So I'm just gonna replace the rear woofer speakers with something similar or as good as the originals, 6.5" speaker woofers but how much power the factory amp pushes, anyone know? I need to know what speakers to buy.

Dude, totally missed this post. Sorry about that. If you still own a Discovery, yes I did use the same Kickers. I bought the 2 ohm ones and wired them in series. Ultimately, I will use fleece and glass to build an enclosed space inside the door that also extends out. My plan is to create a spacer that moves the factory subwoofer cover off the door panel without changing the appearance too much. I'll post some pictures if I ever get around to doing it.
