86,000 miles and a planned big trip
I have a 2000 Discovery II with 86,000 miles. It has been dealer maintained up until last year (76,000 miles). It is now looked after by a local mechanic with years of experience with Land Rovers. I plan to take my family out east (Atlantic Canada/PEI, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont)in July.
Before I go, what should I do maintenance wise to make sure it handles the highways, country roads and off-road beach paths.
It has new brakes, rebuilt power steering, new ACE pump, all hoses look in good shape. New O2 sensors all round.
Is it time for plugs/wires etc? Any suggestions
Derek

What plugs and wires do you suggest and should I change the gasket when I replace the ignition wires (as my hands are too big and old to get to the back of the engine).
Also, can I call you when I'm ready to do the fluids in the driveway. Spring has just come to Ottawa and I need to get the garden in order before I'm allowed to play with my Disco - wife's orders.
I have an account with Eric @ AtlanticBritish, so the parts could come from him.
Cheers,
Derek

Derek,
Plugs are your chaoice, the originial Champion or my favorite the Bosch Platium Plus4. There is only one set of wires to use and they are the magnacor 8mm wires which Eric doesn't handle. I can get you a scourse for them if you want to go with them.
As for the top gasket of the intake manifold, some replace it, some just reseal it.
Sure feel free to call me whenever you are ready, in Colorado, 303-862-7680.
