I have a 95 can I put in a motor out of a 96 ?

nope. you have a distributor, and the 96 has a coil pack. That was the year of the change.

THe RR has a different front cover than the disco. The short block might work if it is a 3.9 as well, but I am not positive.

 

Yah the 94 RR has a 4.2 I believe ...

I found a 91 RR with what looks to be the same motor as mine ... 3.9 and offered to buy it from them,

we'll see if it works...

As long as the Range Rover motor has a distributor, Yes

The cam shaft on a 96 or newer motor has no drive gear
for the distributor.
