Default 97 Disco questions

Hi all. Thought I would pose a question here and see what you think.

I'm going to look at a 97 Discovery with just over 100k on it. Owner says it has a complete top end rebuild with new heads and gaskets.

He also states that the CEL is on and the local Land Rover Dealership is told him to replace injectors and 02 sensors.

I plan on looking at this truck tomorrow and thought I'd ask what else I should look for? I plan on driving it and getting the codes read to see what's in the computer.

I've searched and read a lot of posts on here about top ends and emissions problems, etc. I'll find out why the top end had to be done but that doesn't seem to be uncommoon.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your input.

it would be easier if we knew what the cel codes are, but anyway it seems highly unlikely that it needs injectors AND o2 sensors ( probably o2's , probably not injectors.) How long ago was the head gasket job ?, is the shop that did it standing behind their work ?, looks preyyt clean in the pic though...good luck

Default 97 Disco ???

The shop who did the head work is who told him he needed injectors and 02 sensors. It's Land Rover dealership. He replaced the injectors and was going to do 02 sensors too but jsut received orders out of the country and is leaving soon.

When I drive it tomorrow I plan on having the codes read. Will know more then. Thanks again

Also ask him for the story behind why he has seats from a '95 in a '97? Did he purposely remove the front bumper end caps AND plinth, of did they get mucked up in a collision?

Good catch fellas. I assumed it's been in a fender bender as it has a couple of small dings. Didn't know anything about the seats.
Here are the other 2 pics I have

Hmmm. That drivers side wheel doesn't look so good. He's got some camber toe out on the bottom and these rigs don't align for toe out - meaning there's a good chance of a hub problem. Fender and qtr panel whacks, badly faded hood, & possible hub rebuild - me thinks this was that Marines weekend rig to beat up on. What's he asking for it? More than $1500?
