Default 99 Disco II Hood Stuck

I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna be up the creek here, but my disco died as i was pulling into my parking space this morning. My immediate problem is that the hood won't pop up. I can pull the lever in by the door, but nothing from the hood. I have been able to pop the hood numerous times without any problems, this seemingly came out of nowhere. Any ideas?

Also, how standard are water pump problems with the disco II's? And how hard are they to replace?

Thanks,

Ben

You are going to need a new hood release cable for sure. In the mean time, have someone push down on the hood while you pull the cable. If that doesnt work, go thru the grille with a pair of pliars and try to pull the release cable from there.
Whats wrong with your water pump?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not positive that there is anything wrong with the water pump, but the car has been overheating. There are not leaks, but the water / antifreeze is boiling out of the fill well and replacing the water pump was my first guess.

I had the hood issue happen before. Mike's is right, unless the latch is just rusted or stuck you'll most likey need a new cable.

Your issue w/ overheating sounds more like a clogged radiator, causing the pressure to backflow and come out of the overflow tank. If your water pump was out, you'd morethan likely have a leak and/or no coolant flow at all. I wouldn't drive it any more until you figure that out.

Do not continue to drive the truck or you will loose your engine, they don't take to being over heated. Get it into a good Rover shop and let them determine what is wrong.
Seriously, no more driving or you will be looking a a HUGH $$$$ repair.

Thanks for the help, I did get the hood fixed and had some help to determine that water heater had siezed. It's safely parked till I get a chance to do the repairs.
