Default abs shuttle valve

i replaced the shuttle valve today, of course it did not shut off the three lights. Incidentally, the brake light is on also. The Four Amigos.

I understand it takes several cycles to reset. However, the valve I took out looked fine. Ill have to put 12v on it and see what happens. It was a gamble, but for $75 the odds of the valve being the problem was a worthwhile bet. It would have cost me $125 to have codes read.

I think I need to buck up and pay some to pull the codes.

As an aside, I did it with out disconnecting the brake lines, not too bad if you release all of the clips on the firewall and have a good 4mm socket.

What sets off the Brake light? The fluid is new.

I have the Falcon seals, not sure they are worth installing as my previous shuttle valve was intact.

Any advice is appreciated.

Assuming you didn't do an 'option b' repair also?

If so. Problem could be deeper in abs which option b fixes. Search here.

Of course could be something else. Beg borrow steal a reader. If codes are svs Defo option b fix.

Until codes are read it is academic as it might be somewhere other than the shuttle valve switches. Often the issues with the shuttle valves are mistaken for the more fundamental electrical connector fault in the modulator. There are a few other possibilities, to wit, ABS sensors, wiring faults etc. The ABS codes being read will eliminate chasing one's tail and wasting time and money.
