Default Any experience with ABS Shuttle Valve Kit?

I have a 2000 Discovery Series II with 80 K. Recently the three common lights (ABS, HDC and TC) lights came on. Fortunately a flush of the braking system cleared the lights. The code was that a valve was stuck in the ABS Modulator. This was about a week ago. Then yesterday the three lights came on while driving at about 60 and not while braking. Then this morning when I used the vehicle the lights were out again and stayed out all day. So I suppose that this will be a periodic recurring issue if one of the valves in the ABS Modular is sticking. Of course the shop manual states that the modular is not servicable. But I am aware that recently they came out with a Shuttle Valve Kit for the ABS modulator. I spoke with the stealership about it and they want about $500 to do the repair but they cautioned that it might not be a long term fix and they recommended just replacing the entire modulator for about $2400. I realize that this is just an auxiliary system and I would like to tell you that I spend lots of time descending step terrain, but there is not too much of that on the way to work and back. So I am wondering if any of you have any experience with this repair kit? I would hope it comes with instructions since there are none in the shop manual. Does it take any special tools to get into the modulator? How about just replacing the modulator. I read where one guy on here has one sealed in a box for $500? Plus if I repaired or replaced the modulator would the lights go out or once they are in the system or does the dealership have to turn them off?

By the way I made a post back on 4/28 called Service Estimate from the Dealership. Since then I have had the brake work done that I mentioned above and also replaced the spark plugs. I did not do the wires since the distributor is so hard to get to. What were they thinking! I still have some coolant and oil leaking. For now I am just monitoring the levels. There seems to be much more coolant than oil and the coolant are oil are not mixed in the drip. Does this sound like it is leaking from the head gasket or somewhere else? Sorry for asking more than one question.

Thanks for all of the useful suggestions on here.

Mac

The kit does not work. No instructions. It's just a band aid by Bill Ford to get it out of warranty. The real issue is with WABCO.

Default What is involved in replacing the ABS modulator?

OK, so if the repair kit is not a good solution what all is involved in replacing the ABS modulator unit? Does anyone have any experience with this?
