AC Not as cold
I have a 2000 Disco II that I keep in mint condition. Just had the ac compressor replaced as the bearings in my original were giving out. Ive noticed that the system is not near as cold as it use to be. My mechanic has all levels of cooling fluid in the system right. I was just wondering if I may just need to replace the rest of the system condensing fan etc. from age. Everything else is original from when I bought It knew. Thanks for your thoughts.

What temps are you getting from the center-dash A/C outlets? I see by your email address you may be in or near Charlotte. My truck typically gets into the low 40s on a typical hot, humid Charlotte afternoon. It's not as cold as my Accord which gets to the low 30s but it does pretty well.
A couple ideas...
What about the aux electric fan in front of the condenser behind the plastic grill? Is it coming on when you switch on the A/C (and the ambient temp is around 85 degrees I believe and engine is to operating temp.)??
That aux fan helps keep the head temperature (condenser) down which will in turn allow the evaporator (inside the truck) to pull more heat of the the air (blow colder air).
I would hope the mechanic charging the system would check for that.
Possibly the "blend door" is letting some hot or outside air mix in?
Does the compressor click on and off real quick while it's blowing the not so cool air? Could be too much pressure in system when hot (see head temp above).

You could be right. I have been thinking the recirculate or whatever the shut of for the outside air is called might not be working. Im going to take it back in and have all of those things checked. I know the compressor is turning on and off every like 2 seconds when the engine is just idling. Thanks for all the info.
That sounds like you need more Freon. You need a set of gauges to confirm though.
The compressor cycling so much at idle doesn't sound right.
Too high of pressure or like Red5 said a refrigerant too low problem. But in my experience the latter would keep the compressor on for extended periods of time trying to build up the pressure.
Keep us posted for posterity.
