Bought a 2000 Disco with blown head gasket. The engine is repaired. I would like to ask the previous owner but he did not know his way around the engine compartment. He told me the rig did not have AC. It has a complete AC system. The hose for the ACE system broke (low pressure) what are you using in the ACE system? Is there any reason to not use the green antifreeze in the cooling system? The tail pipe is clean, the spark plugs looked good, the piston bore is standard and all the main and rod bearings are standard. The odometer shows 180,000 miles. I am thinking of 10-40 weight motor oil.

Are these things all time four wheel drive. I have the front drive shaft off and I can not turn the input shaft at the front differential. I have not measured the front drive shaft u-joints yet. Are they standard size available in the US?

The previous owners took real good care of the inside and the paint is in excellent shape. They could not find anyone to fix it so they sold it for the price of the new tires on it. I knew I could fix it so I bought it. My wife and I bought a new MG in the middle 70's. This Rover reminds me of why I got rid of the MG! It is very well built but there was no consideration for the mechanic. Like the cooling system with no radiator drain.

T4, 15W40 has always worked well for me
Technically it is all time all wheel drive, I don't consider it 4WD until the center diff is locked. Your 2000 prob has a lockable T-case but needs a D1 shift linkage to engage it.
If the u-joints are shot, just replace the entire prop shaft. There are several online sources.
