Advice on a head gasket job!
Hi there folks! Old time member with a new username though (forgot my old one).
I've got a leak from my head gasket. Sounds like the same exact problem as this D2:
I am a "handy" guy, but recently moved into an apartment. I would like to tackle this job DIY but have no tools, or a space to do it. I read through this thread:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ree-way-59520/
... came to the conclusion that I either have to sell the my truck, or bring it to an actual LR experienced shop to do the work (since I have no space/tools).
Any opinions on how to pursue this? Thanks in advance. Since this truck is our "family" vehicle, leaning on bitting the loss and sell it?! Sad day...

Thanks everybody for the encouragement! Ive enlisted the help of a handy friend of mine, we are looking to the work and tools needed to do the job. Here we go!!!
He has more knowledge about Rovers then you can ever be expected to learn so I wouldn't be to fast to critisze him.
re: His experience is atypical, to put it kindly
Oh this is more than kind, correct, and indeed atypical. Most members know their limits and stay within their comfort zone. What I may have done in the past with fully equipped shops, variety of other coworkers; that's in the past. Doing it outdoors, with very few tools, just like the chaps in Nairobi. Need a tool? 1 hour trip to the store. Rain? Every time you start to work on it. Use more bug spray than hand cleaner.
I'm sure my story will bring a smile to some, and to others be a beacon of "Discovery" of what not to do. Repair and despair - under the same shade tree.
I plan to edit my very long thread and put the leasons learned on the first page. One important lesson is to use the RAVE correctly and look very hard for information on your vehicle. My mistake was looking at the D2 page, when, if you think about it, D1's came out first, and mechanics would have needed head gasket info before the manual for the D2 was printed....
I think people wanting to do this should be able to see what they can expect to find, after all D1's are not getting any younger. And this is the second set of heads on mine.
