Advice Needed!
I don't quite get this mentality. I've bought and sold a bunch of cars and I've been asked "how many owners" a few times.
I get it if it's a vintage Ferrari. But a Discovery?? Who cares?? I don't get how the price should go down or up according to number of owners.

It's a 2004 Land Rover Discovery, with 6! previous owners and it's 13 years old.
They kept the truck for possibly 2 years each (maybe?). So what are the underlying problems why 6 people kept it for a short time?
It would be like someone changing their underwear every few hours, if that's necessary...odds are there's a problem.
Use to have a buddy of mine that worked a dealership, he'd cherry-pick trade ins for me. Never once did he call me saying he had a nice six owner car that I should take a look at...just saying.
But, like I mentioned earlier...maintenance records and condition can trump the six ownership issue.
Brian.

I've never owned a vehicle longer than a year. Ever. Haha.
I still don't see how it can make or break price. Sure maybe it's a reason to raise an eyebrow. I've seen one owner completely ruin a car. I've never once discriminated buying a car based on how many owners it's had. Nor have I ever charged more for one when I'm selling it. Mileage to me is also subjective. High mileage doesn't necessarily mean bad. Low mileage doesn't mean good either.
What matters in concrete is mechanical/cosmetic condition. If I found a truck I loved and it had 4 5 6 or 12 owners I wouldn't even pause at the thought. You never know why people sell something. Lost their job. Figured out its slow. Figured out its sucks on gas. Took it in once to a dealer and they scared them with a giant preventive maintenance bill on a simple oil change. Who knows. Could be literally dozens and dozens of reasons it could have changed hands a few times. So unless someone can see with out a doubt having a lot of owners definitely equals a junk truck, I still don't get it. I think it's a learned term that people have come to desire simply because it sounds good. Just like "original miles". That one always makes me laugh. "Original" huh? How many unoriginal miles does it have?

I think the number of owners really speak to if the truck is a lemon or not. If it keeps having problems, the fixes on these things at dealership pricing would make you get rid of it quick. I have a 2004 SE7, 9/10 interior/exterior but it had some engine issues we worked out for less than $500 and I paid $2400 for it. I could never see spending more than $4500 for a disco given that there are 30 to 40 for sale within a 100 miles range in any given day.
I'd be leery of 6 owners too. I'd like to see all the work history paperwork, probably impossible with 6 previous owners though. If there was a complete work history, it would be a book I'm sure.
Whatever D2 you buy, in whatever condition, with whatever amount of miles....make sure you ad $2000 to the price because you WILL have to do a head gasket job on the truck at some point in the future. Keep that in mind.
My Rover reminds me of when you're out looking at your first car, and your dad says, stay away from that they're nothing but trouble.
I don't really have repetitious issues...I have constant new issues.
Once I fix it, it lasts, but then something on the extreme opposite other corner seems to break.
Our dealer in the area is reducing it's d2 stock as well.
Uh oh.
