After all this time
we've been together my soon to be wife (after getting up and ready for work) snuggles up to me in bed, you know with the lil smooches and stuff - all the while I'm thinking Hell Yea she's not working today and so I roll over and she gets real close to me (I'm thinking all kinds of stuff she could whisper in my ear) her look goes all pouty (sp) and she says - I've never driven in the snow!!!!! WTF - Anyways, me and the diamond cutter went out to get the truck ready and I figured I'd take a shot of it, hope the picture comes through - it doesn't snow that much here on a regular basis but, having spent 15 years in northern Maine I had a blast. This is the first time I have driven a vehicle with a CDL that I'm aware of, so I started with it unlocked to see what would happen, she (disco) seemed like she would cut donuts if I didn't keep the coal piled on - I'm guessing thats the traction control, I could hear and feel it, it felt like if I let up on her the front end would temporarily unlock and it would come back around when I threw the fuel to er - with the CDL engaged she would keep a straight line and just GO
I had a blast there and back, judging by the claw marks on the passenger side dash I'm not to sure my Honey will ask me to do that again - Maybe next time she will stay home [8D]
Question 1- is the speed limited with the CDL engaged, my Toyota's I've had at 75 in high lock?? I never broke 50 this morning because of traffic - SPEED was not my priority however, I would like to know the capabilities of the lil beasty
Question 2 - I noticed when I backed up - I had the wipers on intermittently - that the rear wiper took a coupla swipes, is that right?? I did not have it turned on.
Thanks
Robert

I know if you have wipers on and go to reverse the rear will come on for a swipe or two. I'm don't think there is a limit on speed with CDL, but maybe someone else will chime in and confirm.
I would be careful about how fast you do go with it engaged. I've heard you're not supposed to drive at highway speeds with it engaged. As far as the rear wiper goes, yes, that is normal. Mine does it as well. I guess it's just to clear up the rear screen so you can see when you are in reverse. Kinda like how the fuel door won't open with the ignition on. Safety first.
I have run the upper Baja area locked up with lockers and all in excess of 80 MPH. There is no reason you can't drive that fast other then you want to always be on a loose surface.
Yup the CDL has no speed limiting function on it. I would NOT recommend driving with it engaged at high speed on pavement though. On dirt, mud, snow, sand etc it's fine but keep it away from pavement.
I have driven 300 miles on snow covered expressways with the CDL engaged, no problems.
Like everyone else has said, no worries. Just dont try and park at the mall with it engaged.
