Default Aftermarket radio wont install all the way in dash

I just bought an aftermarket 7" LCD single DIN head unit. The screen slides out and up.
Install was fairly easy as I already had an older Kenwood unit in with the harness adapter (it's much shorter).
Problem I'm having is the unit won't push all the way into the dash. I've got the wires, harness, antenna all neat but fear it's the bracket way back in the dash that's keeping it from going the extra half inch or so needed to mount flush into the dash.
Any thoughts? The bracket looks pretty stout to try to bend or cut.
Thanks all.

I had the same problem, can’t remember what I actually did to fix it, seams like i removed the stud on the back of the radio to make it go all the way in.

The factory radio has the stud in it that seems like it lines up with the bracket back in the dash.
My issue (I think) is that bracket is keeping me from getting the new head unit to push in all the way.
I guess my basic original question would be if that bracket can be removed or bent to make room.

You can buy a filler piece for the bottom, I did not bother, you need to use the rubber piece from the stock stereo and put it on your new stereo, keeps it from moving around, and lines every thing up.
