Default Air Conditioning

Hey yall

I've noticed that there is barely any air pressure coming out of the vents when I turn on the AC in my '02 disco. The AC itself works great, its just that I can't really feel any of that goodness.

Has anybody else faced this issue before? I hope it's nothing major. Already have driveshaft chirping and air in the heater core to deal with first and foremost.

Also, any of you out there in the Bay Area? Would love to get up with you and pick your brain if you have time. I'm fairly new and noob with cars, let alone Rovers. I love my Rover though. Need to learn quickly. The Forum is a treasure trove of info. Thanks for all the help in advance!

you might want to take the time to drop the blower motor, passenger side 4-6 screws,
you wont believe the stuff people have found in the swirel cage

That is surely the problem. They gather leaves.

Right under the dash on the passenger floorboard. I think there are three screws that hold it up.

Mine made a horrible racket when the leaves all gathered to one side... the fix is to remove the leaves then replace the destroyed filter that runs along the cowl at the bottom of your windshield. You can use the universal air conditioner filter material at lowes or home depot (about 5 bucks for more than you can use in a lifetime). Just cut it in inch strips with scissors, and put where the old filter used to be. No more leaves.

You can also upgrade your blower motor pretty easily with a Pontiac one (about 60 bucks for a new one).

So I removed the swirl cage, looks like it's clean though. I was expecting to see foliage piled high but i found a single leaf and a bit of the AC intake filter. Hmmm.

That's a surprise. Wow. I'm taken back by that.

Either the motor is weak or you have an obstruction somewhere. How odd. I guess with the cage off try pushing something from the front down opening through. Maybe you have pieces of filter and whatnot in the passages.

The pontiac motor moves close to twice the air of a healthy rover blower (just my estimate... but it really blows hard).

I put the blower motor back together and turned it on and I definitely think there's some kind of obstruction. The rear AC is working perfec

The rear AC is blowing air much more powerfully than the front. I'm thinking theres an obstruction in there somewhere. Any way to easily dismantle the dash assembly? Or is there an easier way?

I don't have rear ac... didn't think of that.

I've parted two rovers now and I am always so busy taking things off that I don't recall specifically what takes the dash off but I do recall that it concerns bolts or screws under the instrument pod, in the middle control pod, and behind the glove compartment. Basically I started at the glovecompartment, wiggled it a little moved to the next point that seemed firm, and so on. It wasn't easy.

Maybe someone who has removed their own dash has better thoughts on it but that would be a start.
