Default Air mass sensor Ft 02 sensors

I tell my customer during there 100k service, (German-cars) they should replace there front 02 sensors and air mass meter. There is no fault codes stored for problems, live data looks good also. But these parts are at the end of there life, are slow to correct lamda control. This always wakes up there vehicle. These vehicles have multiple cams, valves, and vanos control for camshaft timing. So I had some extra cash, so I installed two ft 02 sensors and air mass meter. I was wondering how the would wake a old push rod engine at 97k that has no fault codes stored and just pass ca smog test with flying colors. (Wow this really woke it up. Even my wife said what happened to the disco it runs great, and she is sick of cars being married to me for 16 years. I like the NGK 02 sensors, for the disco. The have holes not slits like bosch 02 sensors for metering, new cars have that type.

The 02's will help, the MAF won't.

This isn't true. As a MAF ages or gets dirty it certainly stops working as well. It's not an on/off kind of device. I noticed a HUGE increase in performance on my 03 when I replaced the MAF.

02 sensors are just that, a sensor. Air mass meter is a processing unit for lamda control to dme. Air mass meters get old and slow like 02 sensors. When lamda control sweep slows down, so will throttle reponse. Yes new 02 sensors will help alot, but air mass meters have more control over lamda sweep. Change both. Air mass meter is light bulb, they get dim with age.

well, that dim bulb can be cleaned, and for the poor D1 owners that $1400 MAF looks like a trip to the boneyard. Not saying that you won't have improvement with new parts, just sometimes fiscal reality sets in.

Yes hot film sensors for LH control are very expensive. Porsche 928 S4-gt- gts are $1850.00 or higher. Bosch will not sale them in the aftermarket, dealer only now a days.

$209 is great compared to $1331 at the Rock, or $150 for a reman. But $10 buys a can of CRC MAF cleaner with change for a soda.
