Default Am I looking at a full bottom end.

So I pulled the sump and front cover toady to find out just how bad the oil pump self destructing was. I was glad to find the front cover fully intact so I thought I was just looking at a oil pump gear set and call it a day. Then When I was cleaning up I noticed the guide on the crank was wore down during the ordeal. So my question is, can the guide itself be replaced or am I looking at having to replace the crankshaft. I am really kicking myself right now because I should have changed the oil pump gears last year when I did the front cover job to fix my coolant leak.

What do you mean by the guide on the crank? Maybe post a pic so we can help you...

The guide that the timing chain, harmonic balancer and oil pump are driven by on the crank.

Gotcha. I believe that is a key that sits in a relief in the crank end. If it is now flush you may have sheared the key. You may be able to tap out the bit that remains in the crank end and get a replacement key.

At least this is how I remember it.

Get ready to find more destruction in the top end if the timing chain and gears stopped moving but the pistons didn't.

Good luck.

The timing chain was still intact, I just replaced that when I did the front cover.
