I paid less than $4 for my ELM327 bluetooth scanner: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-ELM327...C7OES2TeqTT6yQ

It took about a month to arrive from China along with a mini-CD that was itself worthless except for the QR code on one of the apps on the mini-CD which directed me to a free bluetooth app for my Android phone.

Using that free app (no ads!) gave me a graphics screen and a more detailed text screen which show a variety of engine parameters such as how much extra fuel is being injected, ever-changing oil pressure, coolant temp, RPMs, error codes, etc.

Even though the app makes you choose a vehicle, it didn't offer the Disco 2 or my Durango as an option.

Didn't matter, though. This sub-$4 device still displayed all of the above-mentioned parameters for both of my trucks!

The app has some quirks such as registering your email address, displaying oil "pressure" as "Consumption L/Hr" instead of Bar pressure, and coolant temperature is displayed in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit... but really, who cares about such trivialities?!

1.4 Bar translates to 20.3 PSI for oil pressure at idle, which is nice-enough at temp.

Come on people, this is showing up on your phone in realtime for less than $4!

Get it. Use it.

*might want to disconnect it when not driving though as the ELM327 has a red light on when plugged in even with your engine off

It really depends on what you need to achieve with a diag: tool. If it's just monitoring, no probs, but if you need to read codes, delete, get exact data or reprogram your truck you may need a specific diag: tool like Nanocom, Hawkeye, Lynx or Autel. In my experience, you get what you pay for in whatever you buy.

The elm327 finally arrived today, it got lost and had to be re-shipped.
I purchased and downloaded Torque Pro.
Tried to get any information about the state of the fuel system.
NO DATA.
I am giving this to my friend for her Ford Focus.
You get what you pay for. I will get analog gauges for coolant temp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure.
I wonder if I can hook up an A/F gauge to one of the upstream O2 sensors. L.

I have the torque app and i get mph, coolant temp, O2 info, Map sensor, and a bunch of other information. Did you ever get your torque app to read anything?

I assume you turned on the Blue tooth and synced the obdii reader with your phone and got a good pairing.

The tach, coolant temp, vacuum, and some other unimportant stuff worked. I went into select gauge style, then scrolled to see what "gauges" were offered. I don't care about g-force on acceleration, etc. It looks like it is geared toward street rodders who want cheap data logging so they can be like the guys on Street Outlaws. Not that I care, but SAI gauge had no data too. Did I mention how slow it is? I didn't want to run that poor sick engine while I explored gauge options. I really want to know what my fuel pressure is, whether I need a new pump or not.
If I seem grouchy, it's because I miss driving my Landy.
