Oil pump finished and its still ticking just the same......love my 03

If you still have low oil pressure then your bearings could be gone.

My guy said he will pull the IM and valve cover and take a look at the rockers...for free. I noticed a post from Mike that said these things go all the time on these engines. Thoughts?

How many miles?
Everything wears out eventually, cam, lifters, push rods, rockers, rocker shafts, bearings... I had to replace all of that on my 115K 2003.

The rocker arms and rocker shafts are easy to check, remove the rocker covers and rocker assemblies and take them apart. Keep everything in their assembled order and for the correct head (left/right), pay attention to the rocker shafts orientation. Check the rocker shafts for wear, they wear on the under side. Replace rocker shafts and rocker arms as sets. You can pull the push rods as well, check the ends for wear, check the length and also check for bent rods.
Going further than that means a lot more work and more parts (gaskets) to replace. The lifters cannot be accessed without pulling the IM, you need to replace the lifters and cam as a set and that gets expensive quickly.
The main concern would be the low oil pressure, was that resolved?

What the hell....The ticking for the most part is almost gone?? Once in awhile its very sleight but usually gone. The only thing I can think of is the colder weather he have now in NY. Could it be a heat thing?? The fan clutch does seem to be different as I can here it come on for 5 seconds then turns off..I don't get it.

I dont know what oil you were using but yes, it very well could be a heat thing.
If the oil you were using was to thin then the valve train can make noise, remember that oil gets thinner when hot, the hotter the outside temp then the quicker the oil gets hot and thinner.
Cooler outside temps means the oil stays thicker longer.
Make sense?
If the only thing that has changed is the weather then I say it was/is oil related.
