Default Another coolant leak question

Sorry to add to the coolant / HG topics already here, but I am not certain about what the issue is. I have a coolant leak (no doubt) pressure test / drop in reservoir confirm, but i cannot find the leak - it drips off the rear underside of the engine / transmission.

Would this be the HG for sure? OR is there a chance it is something else that may have come loose? I had leaky valve covers due to loose bolts.... is there something that may cause the same for the cooling systems (intake manifold)?

Last part to the question... can you nurse a coolant leak. I have tapped out the budget for the yr, so can't afford to do the HG for a while. I am loosing about a half - cup of coolant every week or so. My worry is that I read on one of the threads here that if the leak is bad enough there can be air introduced into the system and cause a bubble increasing the risk of damage to the engine.... is this true?

Here is where the coolant leak shows up:

Thanks for the help Cheers

if you can see it, you can find it with a pressure tester. Could be HG, Intake gasket or freeze plug. I suggest clean the engine good borrow a pressure tester and a mirror again.

If you verify that it is a HG leak, yes you can nurse it along by doing what you are already doing, watch and keep your coolant level topped off at all times.

Clint, post up what you find out. I have the same leak and was told it's an intake manifold leak by the shop when I had them do the timing cover work. I've been checking the overflow tank daily and topping it up, but I need to take action. I wish I was in SoCal; there's a guy on CL who specializes in doing HGs on the Rover V8s for a flat $800 + parts.
