My firmware is older. As soon I have time for it I upgrade and then will try with an e-bay fob which I have laying around. Will report here.

There are only two frequencies used: 315MHz (NAS models), 433MHz (rest of the world). If you get a 315MHz fob then it will work with the factory receiver in the D2 (assuming you have a NAS model).
Yep, aware of that thread. I also knew those 2 frequencies.

My question is no matter what FW you have on the Nanocom, it will not change the frequency that your vehicle will accept from a key. That is, if you bought one of the cheapo keys on flea bay or where ever and it is 433MHz (probably what both I an the OP got), and you are trying to program a key for a NAS vehicle, it’s not going to work. At least that’s the logic I think applies. If I’m wrong, please let me know, but I suspect that the vehicle won’t accept keys from both frequencies. Again, I could be wrong.

I went ahead and paid the man and got an OEM key and it took longer to plug in and boot up my Nanocom than it did to program the key. No changes in FW.

And re: the FW update, we’re a fruity house and I’m not sure I even have anything that runs boot camp any longer- and if I do, it’s probably like Windoze ME or whatever, so I’ll need to find a friend who has a Windoze box to do it. But I don’t think it will change anything if my above logic is correct.

On an original fob, the 6 digit code is printed on the circuit board. I don’t see the code in your photos.

All you need is a used D2 fob and you can program your BCU to accept it with your Nanocom.

Gocha. If anyone reading this thread has an extra OEM fob they don't want let me know! Otherwise I'll probably pick up an eBay one.

The Nanocom will need a key code as shown in this example.

Has anyone confirmed if the new NANOCOM firmware can program the e-bay fobs? I got two new 315Hz fobs from e-bay but couldn't program them last year with a rented Nanocom so I wasted my money. But if the new firmware works I'd be willing to rent it again. I tried looking for a used fob or two but I had no luck.

FYI, I have successfully paired a 315Hz key fob acquired from Ebay using the Nanocom unit. For the code, you want to use the six characters following the first character in the long code as demonstrated here:
